Disinfectant Efficacy Test is performed to demonstrate that the disinfectants used on surfaces in manufacturing areas, animal farm or other facility areas are effective in inactivation or removal of microorganisms, such as bacteria. A sample of product as delivered and diluted with water is added to a test suspension of bacteria. The mixture is maintained at 20ºC ± 1ºC for 5 minutes ± 10 seconds. At the end of this contact time, an aliquot is taken; the bactericidal activity in this portion is immediately neutralized by a suitable neutralizer. The numbers of surviving bacteria in each sample are determined and the reduction is calculated. Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15442, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 are the test organisms used in this test procedure. The test method derived from reference of European Standard, NF EN 1040. Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics: Quantitative Suspension Test for the Evaluation of Basic Bactericidal Activity of Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics, April 2006
